Magnetic Strain Linear Position Sensor - For Tunnel Boring Machines

Position detection even in harsh environments.

Tunnel boring machines are remarkable. The gigantic drill head, exceeding 16 meters, robustly penetrates rock and soil. In such excavation processes, the machine and its components are subjected to incredible stress from impacts, vibrations, and extreme temperature changes. To withstand these harsh demands, each component must be extremely robust. To further optimize the work process, it is essential to ensure data isolation. The appropriate sensor solutions for accurate position measurement under these conditions are provided by Temposonics. The new R Series V sensors are highly robust and compatible with Industry 4.0. The new Industry 4.0 features offer users unique advantages by providing additional information about the process, in addition to pure process data (position/speed). Status and statistical data are recorded and processed during operation to better understand the processes within the application.

Linear Position Sensor Temposonics R Series RF

Capable of measuring long lengths up to 20m.

In ground monitoring, position sensors are particularly important for safety. The challenge lies in the measurement length and the lack of space to install components despite that. Our RF sensor model is designed for such applications. The special feature of this magnetostrictive Temposonics sensor is its measurement stroke of up to 20 meters. Furthermore, the sensor rod is flexible, allowing for easy installation even in limited spaces, and it can be housed in a compact size, enabling low-cost transportation. This versatile sensor also offers a modular profile that can accurately measure the position of up to 20 locations simultaneously. The very robust profile consists of a basic profile section and several extension parts that achieve the desired length when assembled.

Magnetic Strain Type Non-Contact Absolute Linear Position Sensor GB Series

Low head and robust sensor for hydraulic cylinders.

The Temposonics GB series is a stainless steel rod-type position sensor that can be used with a wide range of standard hydraulic cylinders. It is designed to be integrated within hydraulic cylinders and is particularly suitable for clevis-type cylinders or cylinders with limited mounting space. The magnetostrictive displacement sensor enables the creation of an ideal driving system in technically demanding fields of the machinery industry, such as high-quality cylinders and precision control valves. The output is analog, providing voltage and current signals, as well as forward and reverse signals. An analog output proportional to the position of the magnet is directly output within the measurement range. It also supports SSI. The measurement range is set at the factory and does not require recalibration.

Absolute Linear Displacement Sensor with IO-Link Output

With one IO-Link output sensor, it has become possible to measure positions at eight locations.

Temposonics, a company of the Amphenol Group, has announced the expansion of its Temposonics(R) E Series IO-Link for industrial applications. The linear position sensor with IO-Link output can now be used for multi-position measurement, detecting up to 8 positions simultaneously. The Temposonics E Series is suitable for various industrial application requirements. Its particularly compact design allows the use of magnetostrictive sensor technology in limited spaces. In 2016, Temposonics became the first company to offer a wide range of magnetostrictive position sensors with IO-Link output. Future upgrades will continue this trend, meaning that multi-position measurement with up to 8 positions of the linear position sensor is currently only available through Temposonics' E Series IO-Link. Position values can be measured along with speed values at up to 4 positions.

Non-contact linear position sensor

Vacuum-compatible and high-precision for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Temposonics absolute linear displacement sensors combine high-speed response performance, accuracy, and durability even in harsh environments. Many manufacturers around the world need to operate machines efficiently to reduce power consumption, CO2 emissions, and costs, while shortening cycle times and achieving zero downtime. Therefore, they adopt the high-performance, maintenance-free linear displacement sensors proposed by Temposonics, which are resistant to vibration and shock, and are not affected by water, dust, or oil in terms of accuracy. [For transport devices in vacuum chambers for semiconductors, LCDs, organic ELs, etc.] The sensing rod section (up to 20m) is installed in the vacuum, and magnets are attached to the work side to measure accurate positions (with a resolution of 1μm) at multiple locations (up to 30 points) simultaneously. It is possible to achieve significant cost reductions not only in price but also in labor, as there is no need to use expensive components such as special cables and readers dedicated to vacuum, and no installation precision is required.
